In this DIY project, Roelof shows how he made a cupboard to store his tools. For this purpose, he had a 28 mm thick pine carpentry panel cut to size and delivered to his home. Read more about his approach below in the blog post.

Description of Roelof

I made a cupboard from thick pine panels (28 mm) in which I can store my tools. The idea was to paint it anthracite. Unfortunately I didn't realize that there are different colors of anthracite. The plinth was RAL 7016 and the cabinet was made of actracite gray from Flexa. After painting twice, it turned out to be different shades of gray. I also used black screws that you can also use in the garden. This makes the screws less noticeable.

How I made this project

For a cabinet you need an upright on the left and right and shelves in the middle. On the left I used short uprights on which the shelves rest and on the right I used 1 long upright and screwed the shelves to it. On the left I also cut out a piece for the socket and for the extension cord, which runs neatly behind the new plinth. I also added in 2 places the right side is the cabinet screwed to the wall.

Dimensions of my DIY project

Shelves of 110.0 cm wide, 28 mm thick and 40.0 cm deep
Left uprights are 40.0 x 40.0 cm x 28 mm
Right upright is 214.0 cm high, 40.0 cm deep and 28 mm thick
